Most natural dynamical systems follow governing laws and one can construct a numerical model based on the governing equations of the

system.

In this course, students will learn and understand the followings: fundamental system dynamics for numerical prediction, including atmospheric governing equations, and their approximations

and scale analysis;

Various types of partial differential equations; Basic discretization methods and finite difference equations;

Characteristics of various numerical schemes; Computational stability, etc.
